There's a pond on our community's property. It's about 150 yards away from us, out of line-of-sight. They do have swans, but they got them a bit late in the year, so the geese stayed. They won't go in the water with the swans, mind you, but since the geese can out run the swans on land, they stick around.
So they're reasonably far away and shouldn't be too much of an issue.
BUT -
1) the previous tenant in our townhouse used to feed the damn things, so they expect food here
and
2) we have a birdfeeder. The little birds knock down the seed, and then geese show up to eat it.
